BUILDING
Our Theodora Dance Conservatory founders, Ms. Theresa Shampine and her husband, Jack, have personally donated and privately fundraised over $250,000. These funds helped rehabilitate the historic property at The Mill and turned an abandoned space into a world class conservatory, now brimming with the living arts.
EMPOWERING
Removing barriers and educating the next generation of dance artists, Theodora Dance Conservatory has awarded over $75,000 in scholarships since opening its doors 4 years ago.
INSPIRING
Our Artistic Director Theresa Shampine works without compensation. She gives 60 hours a week of her time and 100% of her heart. Her passion is contagious and motivates our young dance artists to work hard towards informed dreams!
COLLABORATING WITH ARTIST SHANNA COULTER
Theodora Dance Conservatory is delighted to collaborate with local fine artist Shanna Coulter. When artists collaborate, it’s like magic—it makes our audience and artists feel truly connected, and it also brings even more joy to our community. Shanna is a lifelong artist with a BA in studio art and a master's in art education. Shanna is continuously learning about her own creative process through experimentation, studying art, and participating in community art adventures. Saying yes to creative projects is her favorite mode of learning, and live painting has become an integral part of her artistic repertoire. We are so excited she said “yes!” to us. You can find her work at Menagerie on Main in Canton.
This painting came to life at the West Main Arts Festival on March 7, 2026, during a performance by Theodora Dance Conservatory. Theodora Dance Conservatory is thrilled to auction Ms. Coulter’s original painting as a fundraising endeavor. We extend our sincere gratitude for your support of the local arts community in Canton!
